Course Details:
The Canyons Course at Oasis Golf Club in Mesquite, Nevada, is an 18-hole public layout, with the back nine designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay in 1995 and the front nine by David Druzisky in 2005. Stretching to 6,422 yards from the blue tees with a slope rating of 138, this par-71 course is set in a dramatic desert landscape with rugged canyons, rocky outcroppings, and stunning views of the Virgin Mountains. As part of Mesquite’s only 36-hole facility alongside the Palmer Course, it features Bermuda greens, strategic bunkering, and a variety of elevation changes, complemented by a 29,000-square-foot clubhouse with top-tier amenities like a driving range and two putting greens.
How the Course Plays:
The Canyons Course plays with two distinct personalities: the front nine mirrors the more forgiving Palmer Course with wider fairways, while the back nine demands precision and length to navigate tighter fairways and narrow targets. Holes like the par-3 9th, with its steep 1-2 club drop over a creek and waterfalls, and the par-4 10th, the course’s toughest with an uphill, blind approach, test strategic shot-making. Desert hazards, water features, and elevated greens challenge accuracy, particularly on the back nine’s demanding layout, making the course a thrilling yet approachable desert golf experience for players of all levels.
